The 60 Year Wait…

The 60 Year Wait…

Mark Murray’s grandfather was a hot rodder and, lucky for us, an amateur photographer. In 1950, he made the trek to the Bonneville Salt Flats and brought along with him his trusty camera stuffed full of black and white film. He must have clicked away all week as he ran into notable cars such as the 777 Streamliner, the So-Cal tank, the Lee’s Speedshop liner, etc… The resulting photography is nothing short of incredible and you are seeing them here published for the first time.

I don’t want to ruin these images with my words, but take some time over the weekend and really study the visuals. They are priceless – new and different angles of cars we all know and love and even a few cars that I’ve never seen before. Opportunities like these don’t come along often. Take advantage of it.

(Editor’s Note: The first few images are of Mark’s gramp’s ’36 coupe. It’s still around and still in the family. The handsome fellow perched on the bumper of the roadster? Thats gramps himself…)

Special thanks to Mark for sharing these photos. It means the world to me.
