The Machete Man Print

The Machete Man Print

In about a week, I’m off to Hawaii—and once I land, I’ll be diving headlong back into the Tom Cobbs photo archive. I’ve been itching to get my hands back on that stash of history so bad, it’s almost managed to eclipse the simple joy of heading home to the island. Almost. Truth is, I’m buzzing. The future feels electric.

That said, I’ve still got a mess of work to wrap up here in Texas before I split. One of the big to-dos? A print for a good buddy of mine. The man hosted me at that Wu-Tang show last week and just so happened to take possession of Chris Casny’s Mercury not long ago, so…

You remember Casny’s Merc, right? I shot it back in 2022 when the family and I were holed up at his place on Maui. There was this one photo that always stuck with me—moody as hell, deep and rich, the car cloaked in black and surrounded by a riot of Hawaiian foliage. I loved it, but I never had the guts to print it. Too tricky. The exposure, the contrast—it’s a damned shadow game. And I’m no magician.

But I gave it another go. Twenty test prints later, I finally coaxed it into something that hums off the paper. Not perfect, but close enough to make the hair on my arms salute.

My buddy gets the big one. That’s the deal. But I’ve got a stack of 5x7s here for the few of you that might want one. On the house. Just cover the shipping and it’s yours. A little token from me to you—something dark, a little defiant, and made with love.

Go here to get yours, but hurry… I only have five of em.
