A Day at Riverside Raceway, circa 1958

Riverside International Raceway was a revered track by racers and fans alike, and opened on September 22nd, 1957. Being that the newest car I can find in this film is a brand-new ’58 Edsel wagon, I’ll bet this film was shot within the first year of the track opening. You’ll see a variety of racing, everything from kids in quarter midgets to SCCA ‘sport cars’ to full on Sprint racers. There’s also a great variety of racing club jackets and coveralls too. Fun stuff!

Note- Can’t say exactly why the person who uploaded Classical music to this particular film, but if it’s not your jam, you can watch the footage with the sound off…
