A Quiet Revolution

A Quiet Revolution

The 2009 Hot Rod Revolution was something special. A strange and beautiful mix of mainstream celebrities, real-deal hot rodders, and historically significant machines—all gathered at a little league baseball park in Penngrove, CA. It was a quiet revolution, no doubt, but it made all the right noises at all the right times.

I burned through close to 500 shots that day, most of them with my Leica M8. Toward the end, I pulled out the M7 and loaded up some HP5, chasing that elusive magic of film. Like most of my work, it was hit and miss. But this abstract shot of the So-Cal roadster? I’ve always loved it. It’s not important, doesn’t highlight anything groundbreaking, but it’s simple. The grain, the tones—it just works for me.

I printed four of them, signed and numbered the backs, and I want you to have one. They’re free, but you’re on the hook for shipping. Fair deal, right? Happy New Year fellas…
