The Khougaz Roadster Again

Years ago, the Khougaz Roadster rolled into town like some kind of royal family member, destined for a tune-up at Austin Speed Shop. After the wrenching was done, Bob Bleed—wild-eyed and grinning like a man on the edge of revelation—dragged John Joyo along for a ride and brought the thing to my lab. The car radiated raw charisma, like a shark in a koi pond, and we couldn’t just let it sit there looking pretty. No, we had to let it breathe. We took it to lunch—an absurdly mundane outing for something so feral.

On a whim I decided to make a video out of the event. I featured it almost a decade ago, but it crept back into my head this morning, uninvited, like a memory you’d rather not shake loose.

I figured, hell, some of you might get a kick out of seeing it again. For my money, this is as pure as roadsters get—an aesthetic masterpiece that sneers at modernity and dares you to disagree. So here it is. Enjoy:
