Random Film, Random Hot Rods…
If you haven’t picked up on it yet, I’m neck-deep in another film photography obsession—a recurring fever that hits me every few years like a freight train of nostalgia and masochism. When it takes hold, I shoot film almost exclusively and I spend endless hours in the darkroom, developing rolls like a mad scientist, combing through dusty archives of my own past, and fine-tuning prints until my eyes blur. It’s a beautiful madness, until the inevitable burnout sets in. Then I toss it all aside and crawl back to digital’s sterile embrace for a year or more, until the itch returns. It always does.
Anyway, I fear if I let this obsession take over The Jalopy Journal you’ll get bored… and move on to some other 30 year old hot rod site with an owner that values your attention more than I do. Not gonna do it.
Instead, I’ve corralled this nerdy distraction into a thread over on the HAMB, packed with film photography I’ve unearthed over the past few weeks. If you’re into this sort of analog witchcraft, go take a look. Hell, if you’re a film junkie yourself, toss in your own shots. Just keep it pure—film only. No digital shortcuts allowed in this temple of grit and grain.
You can find the thread here.
