Pioneers of Hot Rodding the Flathead?
Hagerty just posted an online story called ‘These 5 Hot-Rodders Forged the Legacy of the Flathead’. If you don’t want to click on it, the author chose Ed Winfield, Vic Edelbrock Sr., Stu Hilborn, Alex Xydias, and Ed Iskenderian as the five most influential people who “Here are five pioneers of the aftermarket that used the flathead V-8 to cement themselves and their companies in American culture.”. Do you agree with those 5, or who do you personally think were more influential and should be swapped out? For me, I feel like Wally Parks and Hot Rod magazine were incredibly instrumental in raising awareness for the Flatheads ability to be souped up, even as OHV motors began to dominate in the mid 50s. Its easy to add names to the list, but if you could only pick the most influential 5 of all time, where do you land? Would you swap in Eddie Edmunds? Phil Weiand? Barry Navarro? Zora Arkus-Duntov?
