Back to the Streets of San Francisco

More colorized footage of San Francisco in the 50s and 60s! The first part looks to be shot around 1965- I see mid 60s Galaxies, a Skylark, etc. Then, about 3 1/2 minutes in, the footage shifts to circa 1952. You can tell right away that it’s a decade earlier, as there are no Volkswagens or compact American cars to be seen anywhere. The films seem to be a focus on the street life, cable cars and buses, so it makes me wonder if these were tourist 8mm films, or shot with some particular purpose? Regardless, both segments have so many cool cars parked on the street and driving by (like the Mercury-bodied ’49 ‘Baby’ Lincoln) throughout. See if you spot a mild custom at one point, too…
