The State Of Stuff

Can you believe we’ve been doing this shit for over 29 years now? My first Jalopy Journal post was made in December of 1994 – well over 5,000 “features” later and I’m still sitting behind this keyboard pecking away. Even more surprising, some of you are still sitting behind a monitor and reading this crap.

Sometimes, I don’t know how either of us do it. But, year after year, post after post, we soldier on while others come and go. Steady persistence without even a thought of wavering. True passion doesn’t require effort I guess. It’s a sickness.

I have discovered, however, that I do occasionally need a change of scenery. A reboot of sorts. Not from cars… that would be impossible given the way my mind operates… but from my general surroundings and regimented schedule.

I leave for the Pacific Outpost here in a couple of days. That doesn’t mean anything to the content side of The Jalopy Journal. The machine turns on… But, it does mean that the shipping and receiving department will be closed until August. I will be shipping my last round of Alliance Tags and merch this Friday. So, if you are lying in wait it is now time to get your ass up. Make sure your Alliance address is filled out here and if you were wanting some merch, get it ordered now.

In other news, our first auction on The Jalopy Auction House is coming to a close today. I am super interested to see how it ends. I’ve spent a ton of time and money on this project, but have really enjoyed it thus far. So much so, that I have been continually working on potential listings to come next – focusing on quality and honesty over listing numbers. I think it’s gonna take more persistence… Which is cool, cuz I got plenty of that to go around.

Finally, I’ve been working on setting up some photoshoots on Oahu this summer. There’s a chance that I will be shooting some survivor cars on the island, but I’d also love the opportunity to shoot some member cars while I’m there as well. If you are interested or know of a car I might like, please holler at me! I’ll be there with a camera, a smile, and not too much bullshit. Promise.
