Color Movie of the Week: East Coast Drag Races in 1958

I’m very pleased to bring you this amazing color 8mm footage of drag racing in Petersburg, Virginia. Not only is it well-shot in color, but it’s multiple films put together totaling over 40 minutes of tire-burning footage. East Coast in the late 50s means plenty of killer chopped and channeled hot rod rides- Really a bunch of great cars in this video! If that wasn’t enough, it’s also incredibly well-narrated by two guys who were there; they recognize nearly all the cars, the drivers, what motors they were running, etc.

Man do I wish we had period drag footage with old timer commentary like this from every part of the US… It’s a gift to hear about the golden age of hot rod racing from them!
