Movie of the Week: The Weekend Warriors (1966)

I’m pretty sure this one has been shared somewhere on the HAMB in the past, but just incase you missed it: I give you ‘The Weekend Warriors’, presented by Champion Film Productions. You might dig this color full feature-length documentary released in 1966, shot and narrated in an ‘ABC Wide World of Sports’ kinda way. Largely containing footage from the 1965 drag racing championships, including the NHRA and AHRA Winternationals and the NHRA US Nationals, the film puts the whole sport of drag racing together very comprehensively. All the great legends of the 1/4 mile are featured here, including Don Garlits, Dyno Don, Bobby Langley, Dick Harrell, Tom McEwen, Don Prudomme, Jim Dunn, Tommy Ivo, and many more. What a great time in history to be into hot rods and racing! Plenty of cool dragsters as always, including altereds, funny cars, FEDs, gassers, and modifieds, all presented leading up to the Top Fuel finals. Who will win??
