An Unknown Roadster

A friend of mine sent me a shitload of racing images ranging from the 1920’s all the way up to the 1950’s or so… And we will get to that entire library here soon, but one image in particular caught my eye. It’s very obviously some sort of an Indy roadster, but one I’ve never seen before. For one, it’s appears to be wider than most and features what I think may be a boat tail?

Obviously, I don’t know a damn thing about what I’m looking at here… but something feels special. Like, there is something to be learned by how this car is styled. It’s obviously built for a singular purpose, but I don’t think it’s far from being re-purposed into a dual purpose roadster. Know what I mean?

So… Who out there knows this car? I know someone does…
