Random Thoughts On A Busy Day
Crazy week. So much going on. So much work to do. So many items on the to-do list. And so many random thoughts to get out of my head that I decided to just create a post to dump it all… Enjoy it or ignore it.

Admittedly, this is out of character for me. I don’t know Paul Le Mat or CR Cochrane (the gentleman hosting this drive), but felt compelled to feature this anyway.
Apparently, Paul Le Mat has been ill and retired to a condo in the San Fernando Valley. However, the owner of the condo has sold the joint and Paul is being evicted. It sounds like a pretty rough deal all around.
To help alleviate some of Paul’s financial stress, CR has started a gofundme on his behalf. Details here.
And if you are wondering, I did some checking around and this fund raiser is legit as are the reasons for it.

In other news, the Round Up is here. If you are anywhere near Austin this weekend, you know what to do. Details here.

Also, random thought of the day… We need more ’37-40 Ford 4-door sedans running around. They are cheap, relatively plentiful, and how cool is Doug Hartelt’s push car?
***
Has anyone in the history of hot rodding built a more perfect ’34 roadster than Mike Tomforde’s?
***
The first mention of “racing” in the Library Of Congress is actually a horse racing illustration from Dan Rice done in 1828. The term “hot rod” isn’t used in the library until 1954 when they accepted a “Pogo” comic strip titled, “Them li’l’ hot rods!”

Two random cars from my life. The first is a ’32 Ford frame that I started assembling while I was in college. I have no idea what happened to it… I gave up on the project and decided to focus on my ’38 instead.
The second is a ’29 sedan that Kevin Lee and I picked up outside of Kansas City. It was in horrible shape and chopped severely… I don’t really remember what we did with that one either.

I took this photo at the third Round Up. I haven’t seen this Stude wagon since… What happens to cars like this?
***
At one point, pre-war, speed looked like this:
It took a long time for it to look like that again…

The day I did the Ferrari photoshoot with Steve, I also shot one roll of color film for the owner of the Ferrari. I opened the back of my camera pre-maturely and ruined all of the shots except for one…

A day doesn’t go by that I don’t think about Gary Howard. He was special. When I kneeled down to take this photo, he chuckled cuz he could see my ass.
***
Color photo of Paul Schiefer’s T? Yes please!
***
Speaking of T’s, is there a better proportioned T-Roadster than the old Frank Rose car? The belly pan does it…
***
I found this in my archives and I’m not sure what the hell it is? A Stude? An Olds perhaps? I just dunno… A lot of work in that one – that much is certain. I think it was featured in a small book, but I don’t remember which.
***
Speaking of Studebakers. Jim Lynch. That dude knew how to create and maintain a line. I need to do a feature on this one.
***
Why didn’t GM make this thing?
***
Speaking of concept cars… Which do you think was the most radical in idea?
***
And that’s all I got right now folks. Brain dumped. See you at the Round Up!
