Taking a Beach Drive, circa 1949

Are you ready to do some more hot rod & custom spotting? Here’s around clip of driving footage from the late 40s in Southern California, this time around the streets of Newport Beach and Balboa Island. Ironically, the cameraman never shoots along the oceanfront, which must only be a few blocks away. Regardless, I really enjoyed watching this clip and counting up the bitchin’ Woodies, convertibles, not to mention plenty of great mid century neon signage (The Doll House!). And watch for the mysterious motorized cart coming up the street!
