The Laboranti 5 Window

The Laboranti 5 Window

I just returned from the Greenwich Concours where the show field featured an East Coast Hot Rod class (much like what I shared from the Audrain show) curated by Ken Gross. Among the row of amazing cars, the one that had me drooling over the craftsmanship, taking a second and third look at the details was Jerry Laboranti’s 331 Caddy-powered ’32 Coupe. The car took Best of Show at the Jalopyrama earlier this year, and it’s easy to see why: Quality, everywhere you look.

His vehicle description from the show fills in a few blanks, but really doesn’t give the car nearly enough justice: “4.5 inch chopped top with a custom hand-hammered, louvered trunk lid. Grill insert is a one-off tribute to the Pines Winterfront grille company. The car features many custom Art Deco touches and period correct restored vintage pieces throughout. The paint is a custom mixed dark java metallic. Custom interior stitched by the owner.”

Yes, Jerry the owner, the builder (who is also a jazz musician!), taught himself auto upholstery -at this level- for the car.
