Color Footage: Drag Racing at Kahuku!

Ryan’s ‘Hao Wela‘ shirt reminded me of early Hawaiian drag racing stories from the Kahuku Point Air Field in Oahu, Hawaii. Yet despite many searches I’ve never been able to find much footage of the locals racing from the 1950s, till NOW. DYA717 just uploaded just a short snippet of color 8mm film shot in the late 50s with the promise that more is coming soon (in Hawaiian Time). It’s only about 14 seconds of the whole movie, and most of it is blurry, but you can clearly see a ’51 or ’52 Olds coupe running against a fairly new station wagon, followed by a neat little pair of Diggers getting off the line.
