The Thrill of the Roller…

The Thrill of the Roller…

Remember that story I shared a few years ago about my buddy Mike finding a pretty solid ’31 Model A Roadster on Craigslist? He torn it all the way down and started collecting tasty bits to build the A into a proper jalopy, including a new Deuce frame from Blackboard Hot Rods. Mike is a handy guy in the garage and can do a good number of mechanical jobs on his own car, but at some point he decided to take this roadster project to the next level. A call was made to the crazy-talented Brandon Flaner of East Bay Speed & Custom to set the chassis up properly and fabricate some of the more intricate details. We checked on her progress last weekend and it was the first time seeing the car sitting on wheels, body-on-frame, with loaner motor in place for the mock up. For those of you who have built your car from a pile of rusty parts, you understand just how incredibly special it is to finally hit the ‘roller’ phase. It’s the first time you see your car’s true personality- The harmony of the components, the attitude of the stance, and essentially, the car’s personality. Check out my quick pics below and see if you like where Mike’s A is going…
