State of The Union

State of The Union

So given the state of things around the world and our country, I thought I owed an update on the lack of crap leaving the The Jalopy Journal HQ. Like just about everyone else in the US, we are having shipping issues with the USPS. On an almost daily basis we receive complaints about shipping and arrival times.

Until recently, we’ve been pretty well caught up in the Shipping and Receiving Department. However, delays within the USPS has held up a lot of orders. In the past, we’ve averaged about four days from order received to order delivered. Since November, that average has shot up to over ten. If this trend continues, I will look into UPS, FedEx, and other shipping options. I am buddies with my local post master and as I understand it, moves are being made to alleviate whatever issues the USPS has… But, you know…

In any case, all of that is neither here nor there… At the moment, nothing is leaving the HQ. We’ve been paralyzed by the winter storm that hit Texas a couple of weeks ago. The freeze knocked out our well house as if it was hit by a Joe Lewis combination. Last week, a plumber buddy and I were able to smuggle the 1.25″ PVC from various sources and get it put back together with bubble gum and a few prayers. Once we got water back, this happened:

Shit. Shit. Shit.

I’ve got the office mostly dry now and PVC is becoming more available out here every day. My plan is to fist fight anyone that steps to me in the Home Depot plumbing isle this morning and with any success at all, I should have the parts I need to finish up the office and move on to fixing all of the broken crap in my house.

It’s been a miserable few weeks (or year) here in Texas, but things always have the potential to take a 180. As such, I’m gonna think positively about all this and the prospects of the day ahead. Hell, I think if everything goes reasonably well I will be back to shipping by Friday at the very latest.

Thank you guys for your patience. If you have any questions or concerns, just hit me up.
