A $15k Challenge!

A $15k Challenge!

OK… I got an idea. I am handing you all an imaginary $15,000 in cash. With that money, I challenge you to come up with three different ways to spend it in the H.A.M.B. classifieds. Winner gets the satisfaction of knowing your shit. How bout that?

Here are my three:

  1. Quick and easy. It’s hard to beat a shoebox club coupe and this one is just about perfect – nice enough to be proud of, not so nice to make ya nervous. It’s also priced out of our $15k budget… but if you can’t get this one down in price, there are plenty of others you can in this day and age. To me, if you just want an old car to drive around casually, it’s hard to beat a shoebox for simple style.
  2. The Pickup Truck. Then again, if you can only have one old car to drive around – why not make it practical? The Ford F100 is great because while they still look novel, they are functional as hell. Normal sized people can fit in them and more so, the bed is large enough to haul actual stuff day to day. This example looks decent and mechanically is solid as hell… and it’s right at our budget!
  3. The Hot Rod. It’s difficult to do an early Ford hot rod with a short budget, but with prices dropping, it’s getting easier every day. This ’46 is a fantastic example. Get in and drive the shit out of it… use the left overs in your budget for a road trip. To me, this is the best deal on this list… and maybe on the HAMB?

Ohh… And a bonus:

  1. The Riviera. It’s no secret that I have a passion for these cars. I prefer the ’65, but the money on this ’64 isn’t terrible. In fact, a few years ago it was hard to find a decent 63-65 Riviera for under $20k and this one is better than decent. It looks solid as hell.

In any case… That’s my offering to this challenge. What’s yours?
