The Kansas City Timing Association – Drag Footage!

The Kansas City Timing Association – Drag Footage!

I’m probably a little obsessed with the KCTA, largely in part because Kansas City is my hometown, my late father drag raced in the early 60s, and it’s hard to find very much footage of the racing in the area. The late, great Ray Erikson wrote up a really nice comprehensive history of the Timing Association’s history here, and it pains me that he can’t chime in on this old film I’m sharing below. We do know that cars started running at the Edna airstrip around 1953 as one of the very first drags in the area. This isn’t the clearest or brightest footage in the world, but at least it’s well composed and color! Enjoy…
