More Midget Motor Movies…

You might remember the movie I shared a number of years ago called, “Midget Motor Mania”, about Tether cars (or more accurately about Thimble Drome racers since these cars aren’t tethered, but actually run on grooved tracks). The top film below is from around 1950 when the sport was at it’s absolute peak in terms of car performance and sophistication, and has some great racing footage from a massive outdoor track in Fresno. The second movie down features model enthusiast Gordon Babb of Pasadena, Ca., who is considered to be the father of the midget racer, having built the very first one from scratch in the late 1930s…
