A Scratch On His Forehead

A Scratch On His Forehead

It’s no secret that the late 40’s and early 50’s is the time period that most intrigues me. The hot rods of that era were just so simple and functional and the social environment of the brand new sport was… well, just as simple and damn near outlaw. Of course, most of the performance action in that era went down on long courses. When it comes to the 1/4 mile, there is no more special time in history than the 1960’s.

Creativity and ingenuity literally gushed from the seems of NHRA drag racing. Seemingly no two cars were alike and personality could be found from the machines to the drivers. It was an golden era… And one that was caught on film quite a bit. Recently, a video featuring footage that I’ve never seen was uploaded to YouTube. The “uploader” turned off embedding, so you’ll have to make the jump yourself to check it out.

Be sure not to miss the digger roll over at about the :25 mark.
