Detroit Drag Racing Movies 1959- 1965

Joe Taubitz was a member of the Flint Gear Grinders, attending many drags around Detroit, Michigan in the late 50s and early 60s with his 8mm color home movie camera in tow. Joe recently transferred all his films to digital in a somewhat chronological order, and although the prints are heavily damaged after sixty years of storage, most of it doesn’t look half bad. You can turn the video music off if it’s not your cup of tea, but the wide variety of racers in this are definitely worth checking out: Sidewinders, Rail Jobs, FEDs, Funny Cars, Stockers, Art Arfons’ Green Monster, and a sweet wheel stand from ‘Hemi Under Glass’!
