The Unibody Roadster Dissected

Alex has been one of our tech editors for around a decade or so. He’s one of those guys that has a very rare combinations of talents. Not only is he a capable fabricator, but he’s also incredibly creative/innovative, has an eye for the right lines, and a deep passion for tradition – both american and foreign. This melting pot of capabilities lead to what just might be one of the most innovative roadsters built in our time.

At first glance, the little roadster looks like a super simple hot rod with great lines and a perfect stance. It really isn’t until you sit and ride in the car, that you realize there is something… different going on. The height of the beautifully crafted lift-off top doesn’t quite measure to four feet, but interior space is in abundance. The first clue comes as you step in the car. Almost like a late-model corvette, you actually step over the frame rail and onto the floor. The brilliantly engineered unibody construction is what made it all possible and as luck would have it, Alex recently posted the details of how he accomplished it all.

Enjoy.
