Lets Learn about Levers!

GM made some great educational films in 1930s that explain mechanical principals in the most straight-forward way- Honestly, I wish they would have shown these Jam Handy classics at my high school, and I might have learned some of this stuff much sooner! For those of you with a stock Model A transmission, you understand what a non-synchro transmission is like to shift when your jamming through the gears- It often takes patience compared to a 1932 Model B box, or even better, a ’39 Ford transmission. Well, GM actually deserves the credit for the first production synchromesh transmission introduced on the 1928 Cadillac, and we all know how long it took Henry to adapt to new innovations! This Chevrolet film titled ‘Spinning Levers’ does a fantastic job of showing exactly how a 3 speed transmission works, as well as the benefit of having synchros in your gearbox.
