The Antiquated

The Antiquated

This past weekend I did a shark dive with my 12 year old daughter. It was one of the best experiences of my life. In fact, I can confidently say that it WAS the best experience of my life that didn’t involve a car in any way. And that got me thinking…

See, I’ve been putting a lot of effort into my kids as of late. My goal is to share at least one passion with all of them – something that we can obsess on together, bond, love, and get to know each other beyond your typical father/kid relationship.

My daughter and I have diving… We talk about it constantly and we are always plotting our next adventure. And since that is going so well, I’ve been really trying to find something for my son and I to bond over as well. One thing he has shown some interest in is camping, vintage trailers, and wood working.

Rad, right? But I’d also like to find an angle that gets Miller into the Jalopy Journal as well. Someone has to take my job eventually… He has grown up around traditional hot rods, so he kind of takes them for granted. Meaning, they aren’t all that big of a deal to him. They aren’t new and fresh. Camping is…

So, I got an idea and started a new forum. It’s called “The Antiquated” and it’s a place for the finding, restoring, and saving of old shit… basically… And so long as it’s pre-65, anything goes. It’s where Miller and I will share our adventure in whatever camper we find and end up making our own. It’s also a place you can use for the same.

Of course, this is all just a big experiment at this point. It might not translate well to The Jalopy Journal/H.A.M.B., but I thought it was worth a shot. So, here we go.

You can find the new forum here. For now, it will be very casual and lightly moderated. Just be cool.
