The Thunderado

So while I was researching old Motor Life magazines for my “Custom Of The Year” feature, I ran across this weird and obscure gem. I think Motor Life said it best:

“The work is that of Clark Alexander, of Miami, Florida, who says approximately 18 months and some $15,000 (note: in 1956 money!!!!) went into the job. The styling can best be summed up as the kind that might be expected if Cadillac elected to develop something in the Thunderbird field…”

Close, I think… But in my mind, I think the styling can best be summed up with two words: Miami. Florida. I mean this with all due respect to Floridians, but there is just something very locational about taking a Ford chassis and mating to it a strangely proportioned yet  oddly pleasing custom body inspired by a GM product while utilizing a lot of T-Bird parts. Am I right?
