Titan of Speed Parts: Vic Edelbrock Junior

Titan of Speed Parts: Vic Edelbrock Junior

You probably already know this news, but Vic Edebrock Junior passed away last Friday, Jun 9th, at the age of 80. He was the only child of hot rodding legend Vic Sr., and served as President of Edelbrock since 1962 when his father passed away. At that time Vic Jr. was only 26 years old, and the Torrance-based company had 10 employees and modest revenue. If you think of most successful businesses that get quickly handed down to their offspring, it often goes terribly wrong and the company is gone within a few years. Instead the passionate and business-savvy Vic Jr. turned Edelbrock into a thriving company, that has turned multi-million dollar profits and become the biggest name in aftermarket performance. He started the¬†Edelbrock Foundry Corp. to control their own castings and diversified the business beyond manifolds, carbs and cams, to include suspension and exhaust systems as well. Vic Junior was passionate about racing and took Edelbrock from a So Cal speed shop to household name. God Speed, indeed…
