How Silva Got His Groove Back

How Silva Got His Groove Back

So a few years back Kevin Silva bought a ’34 roller in pretty decent shape… It was an “old man” car that was never finished, but he had a vision for it. The first task at hand was the chop. Five-windows are tough to get right… Kevin knew this and employed Bob at Austin Speed Shop for the honors. He nailed it both in profile and aggressiveness. Once home from the surgery, Kevin spent a few months getting the stance dialed in, the little small block running, and just essentially assembling the car. It was done in time for the Round Up one year – I don’t remember which.

But then, life does what life does and Kevin had to sell the car. It was kind of a big deal. When you sell a 32-36′ Ford, it’s like moving out of California or something… It’s easy to move out, but really tough to move back in because prices just never stop escalating. Emotionally, I think, Kevin just sort of packed it in thinking that was it on the 33/34 front for him.

But then, last weekend he got an email. The widow of the man he sold his ’34 coupe too was writing to let him know that her husband had passed and before doing so had instructed her to contact Kevin when it was time to sell the coupe. She sold the car back to Kevin for around the same price he had sold it to them so many years ago.

Yesterday, Kevin went and picked it up. It had a couple of hundred more miles on it and a bad wheel cylinder. The rest is as Kevin left it.

Silva got his groove back y’all. I’m gonna talk him into a full feature soon…
