Rodding in Russian: Andrey Tkachenko

Rodding in Russian: Andrey Tkachenko

When I think of someone into traditional hot rods, customs or gassers in Russia, two words come to mind: Limited Resources. You can imagine that there just aren’t a whole bunch of ’49 Fords or ’54 Chevys to be found in their local classifieds… But just because American iron isn’t available doesn’t mean the Russians don’t love their old rides. Take for example the killer art of Andrey Tkachenko from Nizhiy Novgorod (about 260 miles west of Moscow). Taking 50s and 60s era Soviet-built vehicles such as the Volga, GAZ and ZIL, Andrey reimagines them as shaved and slammed beasts of the Mother Country roads. He’s got an “Iron Giant meets Lead Sled” kind of art style, and I dig it…
