Ralph Whitworth

Ralph Whitworth

A couple of years ago, I ranted on twitter about how much I hated my Hewlett-Packard printer. Three days later, there was a knock at my office door. A man stood there dressed business casual with an “HP” logo on his left chest. Behind him was a box truck adored with the same HP logo.

“Mr. Cochran? I’m Randy from Hewlett-Packard. I’ve brought with me every printer from the Hewlett-Packard catalog along with a few that aren’t. Mr. Whitworth would like me to see to it that you are happy with our products. Do you have time today or should I come back tomorrow?”

“Who the fuck is Mr. Whitworth?” I asked.

Turns out “Mr. Whitworth” was just some guy I already knew by “Ralph”. I knew him as a wealthy car guy with exceptional taste… Down to earth. Friendly.

Ralph was much more than that. You can read the details here. He died this past week at the age of 60. In sixty years, he did more than many of us combined will do in our lifetimes.

See ya buddy.
