Vintage Air Does Good

vintage car air conditioning

For some folks in the south, the installation of air conditioning can make a hot rod or custom infinitely more enjoyable. Of course, said installation can also ruin the looks of an otherwise perfect traditional car. I’ve seen lots of innovative tricks made in an effort to hide the typical “street rod” unit, but hadn’t seen many manufacturers actually building a unit that would look right in some traditional settings.

Looks like Vintage Air might be taking a look at our needs fellas… They recently introduced the above pictured MarkIV under-dash unit manufactured from the original 60’s era (we are guessing here) tooling. While it might not look quite right in your late 40’s styled hot rod, it is perfect for your early 60’s Bellflower custom. The unit runs about $300 and you will be in another $900 or so for all of the under-hood stuff, but that’s not too steep if you are seeing the 100-degree temps a lot of us here in Austin get.

NOTE: This is not an advertisement. The Jalopy Journal hasn’t been paid a dime to cover this product. That said, we are working hard to bring Alliance members a discount on it. More later fellas…
