Love for the Push Truck…

Love for the Push Truck…

Somehow we’ve gotten on this Shoebox Pickup conversion thread, but I maintain my original statement: The early 50s Ford F-1  push truck look is still the closest commercial vehicle to my heart. Obviously, the Bonneville/ El Mirage push truck grew out of the necessity to help a high-geared land speed racer get up to speed down the line, but it’s always played multi-duty as a shop truck, parts hauler, rolling advertisement and paint-matched support crew. What to I love about this noble beast? Maybe because it’s no trailer queen- It actually tows the trailer queen. The pusher is just honest, hard-working, and was never intended to be a ‘Hey, look at me’ kinda vehicle, yet the mild custom trucks of the salt were always the perfect behind-the-spotlight counterpart to their race crew… Just happy to be pushing things. They still are.
