Reproduction 2″ Riley Carbs

Reproduction 2″ Riley Carbs

A while back, Josh Shaw was restoring the 1949 #14 Hal Cole Kurtis KK2000 and needed a pair of 2″ Riley Carbs. Only around 120 were ever made and that supply had long since dried up, but through luck perseverance Josh was able to land a couple. Even so, the labor of the hunt got him thinking… Why can’t such an elegantly simple carb be reproduced? To make a long story short, Josh and the boys at Zakira’s Garage decided to do just that.

Their number one goal was to make sure that their finished product was an exact match to the originals so that parts would interchange, rebuild kits could be offered, and the world could be resupplied with a carburetor that has been undersupplied since the day they were introduced.

Their first run consisted of 12 carbs and just as soon as they were assembled, Josh headed to the dyno with a set of original carbs as well as a set of his new reproductions. Proof is in the pudding, right? The originals performed flawlessly.

Of course, the great thing about these carbs is that they can literally be tuned to run on any size engine with a simple interchange of the ventura. And, of course, Zakira’s Garage has done all the research to figure appropriate engine matching.

Put shortly, this is REALLY fucking cool. If it sounds like something you might be hankering for, get ahold of the boys…
