Lee Pratt

An interesting post popped up yesterday asking for images of Lee Pratt’s former and current cars. Although I live in Austin, TX and Lee visits here often, I’ve only met him once and don’t know him well at all. I do, however, know and appreciate his cars a great deal. He’s an artist first and a car builder second. Priorities in that order don’t often lead to a remarkable end product, but Lee is just so damn good at both that one just feeds the other. His cars are artistic statements with an eye for texture and form.

A perfect example is the business coupe pictured above (thanks Juan!) featuring the colors of fall. The scheme instantly remind me of the Barris built Ernst Chevrolet, but Lee pulled it off with more restraint and a better eye for flow. It’s one of my favorite Pratt cars, but there are many more to choose from.
