World’s Fastest Hot Rod – 1952

The twin 296-inch flathead powered streamliner attained a top speed of 230.769 mph on a one-way run and averaged 221.479 mph on the two-way. Flloyd Clymer was the money man while “Willie” Young handled the gut checks behind the wheel. Kenz-Leslie speed shop out of Denver designed and built the car.

There are a ton of stories in and around the cars that set the early records and the 777 is no different. Flloyd Clymer was a publishing mogul of sorts and “Willie” Young was crazy man, but some of my favorites revolve around Kenz and Leslie.

They are Colorado legends.
