Has anyone got any detailed pics or could take some of a Willys hood hinge please, dimensions of the hinge would be good too, thanks in advance.
Hope this google site helps. Lots of pictures and links . https://www.google.com/search?q=194...xIYL7gwSKzoDYAg&ved=0CCYQsAQ&biw=1366&bih=633
Some of the glass cars use a piano style hinge. It mounts to the cowl and hood at the very back. The custom one I have has a bend in one side. I can measure it if you like.
I thought the stock hinge was piano hinge but wider ? I measured the aperture where it sits and got 12", yes if you could measure I would appreciate it, any pics would be useful too. Thanks Steve
Here are a couple pictures. Length is 10 7/8" ( approx. 275 mm) by 1 1/8" wide ( approx. 27 mm ) The bend is half way and about 45 degrees. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Badge01/willyshinge2_zpsb759e085.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/Badge01/willyshinge_zps2222e17c.jpg
Steve, I dug out a couple of 38 hoods and the hinges are stuffed (hadn't looked at them in 20 years) so will keep looking. See what I can find, JW
Steve this thread has a picture of a steel hood hinge assembly. I suppose you are more interested in the piano hinge style that is typically used on the fiberglass cars. I found some pinao hinge types for sale on some web sites but not much detail in the pictures. I imagine with your skill sets that you can build one from scratch if you set your mind to it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1940-willy-steel-front-end.926773/#post-10449454
Just for shits and giggles, heres what I had , the rest is fairly good. If I can clean it up a bit and see where the hinge starts and stops I may get some measurements. JW
Steve; I have a hood in primer in my shop. The hinge is in excellent condition. I can get you pics tonight if you still need them
Steve my husband took some pictures for you this morning. Sorry but I stink at posting more than one picture at a time so bear with me.
