Had a 49" Ford coupe with a 239 flathead V8, 3 speed on the column. Navy blue. 16" wide white porta-walls. I painted all the interior trim pieces white including the dash. It was fun and cool. Not real fast. Traded it off on a 60 Impala 233 powerglide rag top about 2 years later. The bummer is that I've yet to find a pic of either one!
this isn't the same one- mine had the fast back glass window but 2 door silver with red interior and bench seats auto matic rear drive chevy caprice
Looks tuff Hank! As the Doctor said, we cant drive until 18 in Oz. An older friend had a '59 Cad. I mostly cruised with him until I got my first car, a '59 Ford runnin' a worked 390ci Y block.
This is my '55 Desoto that I bought with my own money I made from pin striping cars when I was 15. I drove it in the rain, sun and snow. No heat or defrost. I graduated in '06, and i will never get rid of this car. The times that I would work on the car i drove an '88 Caprice ex-cop car, i regret selling that car, too many fun memories in that car. Another one would be a lowered '88 S-10, ralley wheels, cowl hood and painted flat black, 4 cyl. 5 speed. another fun truck I still drive 5 years later. But the Desoto was driven just about everyday that it wanted to go to school.
This is what the Desoto looks like now. In fact, this weekend we're going to start chopping the top. it has '56 old headlights, '56 Packard tail lights, reworked grill and grill opening, one piece front end, shaved everything beside the side trim, and air ride all the way around. I did all the bodywork myself and my good friend Tom Culbertson and i done all the metalwork. Its going to be gloss black and copper when its all done. Chrome coresupport and chrome fenderwells are bout to be installed this winter after I put the 5-speed in it. It was my first car, and it will stay with me forever.
'40 chevy pic-m-up ,then a '55 2-door sedan,(301,4 speed,chromes and craigers)then my '65 malibu ss(327,4 speed ,cross-ram 2-600's,4.11 posi.)next was a 1970 1/2 z-28,4-speed also

1967 Camaro. Shot this out of my Seniors '87 yearbook just for this thread...yeah, I did love that car. And the dame with her face cigarette burned outta my book is the X.

My Mom was tired of the commute to school everyday with me and my two younger sisters, So, it was 1966, I was 15 and ready to fly, Dad and I went looking for a car. He is and old Hot Rodder so we looked at a 56 T-bird convertable with a 406 innit, too much money I think..We looked at a Hudson Terraplane Pick-up truck, too hard to find parts for..finally settled on a 55 Chevy two-door Handyman sedan with a sick 235 six..yanked that out and put in a 327 and away I went..taking me and my sisters to school during the week and drag racing on the weekends....
My first car was a '64 lemans poncho...which my parents made me sell...to fast ..gonna kill yerself bla bla bla. Then I got a 73 Vega wagen wooo hooo ...at least I could drive. I moved to a 69 firebird ( badass ride) then to a 72 El Camino. I bought a sportster for my last year. what a blast I had in High school
71 nova 350/350, lots of good memories in that car too bad i sold it. bout three years after i sell it the new owner calls me up and tells me his kid buys the car from the guy i sold it too and he needed the paint code because his kids friend ripped the frontend off the car. ( you dont call a guy up and tell him that you destroyed his first car.... its just wrong)
51 Ford flat head 3 deuces headers etc. sold it for a Marina blue 55 Chevy 2dr post 6 3 spd Hurst with bucket seat interior
This is my first car. An original "R" code 427 65 Galaxie. If you look close you can see the pyrex headlight covers. I bought it for $120 because rearend was locked up. I put a new centersection in that we had and drove it home. I drove this car all through high school and carried a set of slicks in the trunk. It had 5.14 gears and a 4-speed. I sold it and bought my Wifes engagement ring! That is me at 17 and my little Nephew.
This is my 70 XR7. It was painted with a vinyl top in School. I drove it from 85-87 This is what it looks like today. I wouldn't take a million bucks for it.
Class of '86! No class today!!! Started out with a 69 Ford Galaxie 500 four door with a massive 302 in it! Lots of room for friends and fun!! Finished out with a 79 Chevy Malibu Station Wagon that still had the feint outline of Yellow Cab Supervisor on the doors! Yeah, my Old Man worked at Yellow Cab. Oddly, the wagon was White! Good times!
67 Camaro, small block, dual quads, muncie 4 speed, 9 inch rearend w/3:90 posi. It was a factory RS/SS car with speed minder, tach, console guages, fold down rear seat, deluxe door panels, tinted glass w/no air. Wished I had that thing back many times over.....
57 Chevy. Did I mention, it was yellow with a black stripe on each side, with 2 rows of seats, about 16 on each side,, 4 on the floor. I had a chauffer who picked me up each morning and dropped me off at school and waited until school over, and he took me back home. I shared my ride with a bunch of other students. Jack
This one. This pic still cracks me up. I had a "HiJackers" phase I went through until my kidneys gave up...haha
