I might be tempted to buy a brand new tank for it (tanks are pretty cheap),then section it to the width you need to fit,and weld it back together. That way you can keep your stock filler neck location, sending unit, etc.
It will be a bit of work, but at least you can still have some decent fuel capacity for running around on the street on a Friday night.

Funny how me and my dad conversations seem to only happen inside his head........
I do like Scott's idea of the sectioned tank. Finding one for the ranchero might be a challenge. Ford in there penny pinching ways used a falcon tank but turned it upside down and then welded the neck on the side for the filler. Falcon sedans filled behinds the license plate. Wagons and rancheros are in the side.
This is just another bump along the trail. We will get something figured out. Later dudes!

James I give you lots of crap but reality is you will probly be the big dog in this show this year as my good parts are just left over stuff from someone else and if it wasn't for good folks like you I wouldn't even have a running car this year

You Guys are bringing a large Storm to the Meltdown containing Chevy Thunder this year.

My Guess is that he is peeking out from under the bed, like my declawed cat does when a Thunder Storm is coming
or if he thinks there is large mouse or rat is around.

Chevy Thunder with Mouse & rat motors = Shaker with a z tail Shaking under bed

    That should do it :D

I hear and read chrome won't get us home. But are chrome steel wheels ok at this party? Paired with slots up front? And one could assume 3" wheel studs out back for cars with slicks?
    asking for a friend.......

Not working on the car again till we get into the new house in a few weeks.
At which point, your fate will be sealed.
You better invest in a defibrillator for that "Heartbeat of America",cause the Shaker is gonna flatline you.

As long as they are like a factory style chrome wheel.
Wheel studs only need to be long enough so that there is as much thread sticking out of the wheel as the diameter of the stud.
