Watch for certain type of forum posts?

If we only want to see Technical posts, or only those under Projects, or whatever our own interests... can we just 'watch' for only those types of message board posts with the certain filters or prefix?

In trying to figure out the site, I thought I was 'watching' for a prefix of interest but got everything new mentioned in my alerts.
