Washington Blue (Ford color)

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Fox Valley Hot Rods, Apr 18, 2008.

  1. Does anyone have a good picture of a car with Washington Blue paint on it? I have a customer who I'd like to email a picture of the color so he can see it. Or is there a website that has large color samples?

Any help is much appreciated :D

I seem to be a spokesman for this damn site but it always has everything I need when it comes to paint. Try www.tcpglobal.com

AV8's car on the front cover of "How to build a traditional hot rod" is painted Washington Blue.

Please don't make Washington Blue the next red.

    Hey,

Be advised, there is more than one colour going by the name of
"Washington Blue"! The early addition had more green to the base,
    than the later one.

I'm a long time lover of Washington Blue myself. My '32 3w was originally that color and it will be again. I`ve seen several "recipes". Some so old they are measured by weight. But does anyone have an up to date formula for a single stage that would match Mike Bishop's A?

Tinman, The formula will depend on the type of paint to be used, as the tinter numbers differ from company to company.

I found this out the hard way!!!

Blue is my favorite color and Washington Blue is my favorite car color. It doesn't get any better.

My roadster is Washington blue but there's not enough of the paint left to bother with a pic. On a separate note, the Bishop/Tardel roadster is simply jaw dropping. I've never seen those pics before and now I can't stop staring.

I keep seeing these cars that are Washington blue...I don't know if it's the light , or my eyes, but maybe there's more than one code for this color....I want to paint my chopped 41 coupe the color of this 36, I think it's Washington blue, but the other cars shown are supposed to be the same color as far as I know, and they're all a little different......does anybody have a modern paint code for the color of the 36 ?[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

The color used on Roadway express trucks is washington blue. PPG has it in the commercial catalog.

I'd be willing to bet that if you lined up 10 cars that were painted Washington Blue that you you would have no 2 that were exactly the same. I had my 36 roadster painted Sheridan Blue - a 50 Ford color. Might be just a little darker than Washington Blue but also very nice.

Did anyone ever have a paint code for the tardel bishop roadster? I see that it says ppg concept...I know this is an old thread. thanks

  29. My experience is buying Washington Blue you have to be careful who you buy it from. the roadster is correct or so close to it no one would know but I have seen it way lighter then that car and still sold as Washington blue and even darker to the point of being mid night blue and still called Washington blue.
