They don't have to be fat fendered to be customs... chopped, sectioned, channeled, and shortened quarters...
Bill Couch still owns it... he was 16 and his Dad bought it for him in 1953... originally built by Joaquin Arnett of the San Diego Bean Bandits in 50-51... was purchased by Andy Granatelli in 52 and added a full race Grancor equipped flathead and Allard independent frontend
