31Dodger, Thanks for the KRIT link, but I don't think that bus is a something they made, I've seen other New York busses with that logo, and it isn't connected to anything German or KRIT. That radiator looks European, off to do a Google search. Bob

 

The guy may have pulled over to throw up before continuing on.

I did a little internet research and the bus is indeed a KRIT from 1912 in Belgium.

 

Six cylinder Saxon from around 1918.

 

From the plate the location is New Zealand in the early 1960s.

I did the same, but if it is in Belgium how come it has a New York plate? I have to the word of others that it is a KRIT. The radiator looks more like Panhard-Levassor. There were some of those imported to the US.

 

What's the betting not a single car in this pic had disc brakes?


And every single person who ever had one of these cars died because their brakes failed. I'm endangering everyone who rides with me and everyone around me by not converting to disc brakes and a dual master cylinder. YEAH RIIGGHHTT.

 

Well I did say I did a little research which I should have spent more time.
I totally missed the NY on the license plate.
Isn't everything you read on the internet correct?

 

Nice shot of San Francisco looking toward the Ferry Bldg. Looks like the cars are following the law by turning their front wheels toward the curb.

 

I haven't thought of or heard the word "Steam Shovel" in forever.

 

Last view of the Portland West Side Motor Court, rear view, from SW Pendleton Street, 1953 before it was demolished. Beyond the trees is Capitol Hwy and the Fulton Park Dairy which was soon to become Wilson HS. Hillsdale, as we know it, was yet to be built.



A 1949 article in The Oregonian describes the inadequate sewage facilities of this camp and gives the address as 6259 SW Capitol Highway (which puts it in Hillsdale, right at Capitol Hwy and Sunset Blvd).
