I'm thinking it is. Bettenhausen wrecked it in 1959. Harry Turner bought it for 1k, rebuilt it in a weeks time, but Tony took the Hoover Motor Express ride. Finished 4th for the second consecutive year.

Somewhere earlier in the sprint car thread is a picture of it wadded up in the ditch between 1 and 2.

  2. Thank you.

Here you go Jim. According to the Greg Littleton book this is the car you are referring to.

Thought it would be cool to see a little of the human aspect to these images, as we all eventually will be reduced to a Snapshot. People made these images and they are aspects of their lives. Some I've posted before but now I want to show you the backs and the words they left behind, enjoy.

  14. Interesting chrome beauty rings around those hubcaps on that 1936 Plymouth. Never seen those before on a Plymouth

  15. Thanks, Rootie! What a monster! Looks a lot smaller in the rear view shot.

    $350 in 1950 would be $3,526 in 2017 dollars.

Fly your Staggerwing to Cheyenne; hop in the courtesy Studebaker to drive the kids to get an ice cream cone.

A good example on an "over the top" custom from the period. Did they really think that was an improvement over the original design?
