No idea, sorry! Here's another odd one - which do you suppose would vibrate worse?

  2. Looks to be some sort of parade vehicle that started out as a stationary engine.

  7. I haven't mixed anything up. I believe that the "amazing 1953 Studebaker Starlight" is merely a refinement of the 1952 - there was nothing new or revolutionary about it - yet Loewy and Studebaker were giving each other credit for something fundamentally "new". And of course if that's true (it's just an evolution of a current design), and it's quite obvious that the 1952 was just another progression going back to the 1947, then the Exner authorship becomes obvious as well (Exner holds the sole patent for the 1947 design).

Again, if you go back and read my post, I'm making the observation that Exner had a fascination for the split grille theme, and that :

"And through all of it, you can see (well at least I can) a repeated design theme, especially initially with that famous split grille (included in the Ghia) and on through his last days at Chrysler."

That's it. Nowhere have I asserted that Exner "designed" the 1953. I asserted that the split grille design of the 1953 really was nothing more than a refinement of the earlier design theme - which was Exner's.

Finally, like you (and as some others have already said) I've come around to liking the Chrysler designs very much. I always had a strong dislike for fins - didn't matter if it was a 1957 Chevy, or 1959 Cadillac. But the Chrysler designs when viewed as a whole are well balanced. I just lacked the maturity to appreciate them for what they were.

I'm not a historian, never want to be a walking encyclopedia. I'm just stating what I've observed, and wished to give credit to someone who was largely overlooked in the era of "a sea of fins".

Believe it or not, the 37-39 2 door sedans were even lighter than the coupes and got used up even faster! Gary

Still frame from a video game? The cars look a bit "generic" - license plate on the car in the foreground looks odd too.
