My first visit to Portland 1965, flew a twin Piper Comanche into Troutdale on a dark cold night, borrowed a car and drove to Farrell's. Had a hamburger, drove back to Troutdale Airport, slept about four hours. Early morning cleared ice off a Cessna 150, followed the Willamette river to Salem then on to Santa Paula Ca. Joe Roberts reminded me of a wrecking yard full of Studebakers near where I lived in the 60's. bert-rydlm07.jpg bert-rydlm04.jpg bert-rydlm14.jpg

Forgot to mention they were in the heart of suburban Sydney. Have a few more if you would like to see them.

  20. These are from Buxton, NODAK summer of 1958. You have to look hard to find it on a map. Buxton 1.jpg Buxton 2.jpg Buxton 3.jpg Buxton 4.jpg

The picture with all the Cadillacs in it reminded me of a hotel we had in my town years ago. The Irvin Motel, owned by a semi recluse who had a affinity for Cadillacs, and hardly any customers. Rumored to be a meeting place for the dixie mafia, it burned down under mysterious circumstances, and all the 40s thru 60s Cadillacs were hauled off for scrap. Owner died in fire. It was on Hwy 11/80 east out of Meridian.
