Only 1 built at Douglas Santa Monica Plant in this configuration with those massive wheels.
When it landed it buried the wheels into the runway, in came the multi wheel landing gear.
I have a photo of the take off.

Thanks, I was guessing either Fordson or Belarus, but that kinda looks like it could be ol' Henry himself in the white collar.

  18. I pretty sure the Douglas B18 and C47 (DC3) shared a similar frame.

The prototype B-17, designated Model 299, was designed by a team of engineers led by E. Gifford Emery and Edward Curtis Wells, and was built at Boeing's own expense. It combined features of the experimental Boeing XB-15 bomber which was instrumental also for the B-29. XB-15 was pressurized.

Douglas only built one B-19, then the largest U.S. bomber ever built...unfortunately it was scrapped sometime after WWII, and only a wheel and tire remains, at the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio. There is a great video of the B-19 landing at March Field, maybe someone can find it.
