More like basically the N(o)H(ot)R(ods)A(llowed) does everything they can to prevent innovation in a sport/hobby that is based on innovation and modification. Just like NASCAR it's all about "parity" and having all the cars basically the same with different graphics to sell tickets and sponsorships.

Back in the days when the top fuel rails were running times like the pro stocks do now it was a better show and there would be everything from small block Chevys, Fords, Pontiacs, Buicks, Oldsmobiles. Mopar Wedges and Early Chrysler Hemis running competitively in the same class. The twins ran against the single engine cars and won and lost about the same as everyone else. Guys would run the whole season on the same engines, only changing spark plugs and gapping valves between rounds. Now they all run the same cookie cutter cars with different paint down a shorter track and rebuild the engine every round.

Used to be guys could afford to run the whole season on less money than it costs to make a single pass today.

If this is "progress", they can keep it.

Thanks Maveth, what I find with today's rules it would be hard to connect a side by side and find a "Cert" bell housing.....it could be done legally by connecting the engines together in the rearend using 2 "pumpkins" like Eddie Hill's car....I had thought of doing it that way bit the cost would be thru the roof!

Got after mounting the TWIN's Roadster body yesterday after a family friend did some major body work, Thank You Cheyenne Brisco! First I had to "File" the opening back to make the tabs flush when completed, then I added the extra piece to give the tab more material around it for strength. Once all the fitting was done I covered the pieces with (I love this tape) aluminum tape to give me a seamless "Mold", and waxed it real good before riveting it into place.
I've found I like using smaller piece when laying out this type of project and also it seems to me that if you keep stirring the resin after the catalyst is added it will "work" (stay liquid) longer although the heat and humidity got me yesterday when the resin set up before I used it all......no big just a small loss.
After the glass set up I it all came apart as planned and I riveted the tabs back on, they will be removed again for paint then I'll use machine screws for final assembly. I started the project using "Shake Proof" aircraft fasteners that you see in the photos, the Key Hole you see is so I can remove them completely as they normally stay in place but with the "Fit" of the body they must be removed.
I know it doesn't look like progress but I'm getting there, now on too the back which I plan on having completed this weekend!

Rocky, looking forward to seeing it as you envisioned it at Eagle Field. That body finishes it off rather nicely.

    Thank You Nexx'!
The wheel wells were marked out with a "widget" I Hot Glued to the tire. Once in place I made "dashes" on the body then "connected the dots" with masking tape to use a guide to make the final cut line with a pencil. Cut it with an air saber and we're getting closer to paint! :D

Was lucky enough to meet Rocky at the Meltdown and spend some time with him, even got recruited as crew to tow the Evil Twin to the line, they put on a great show and everybody loved them, what a cool car and a nice guy it was an honor to be able to help out.

The trip to the Meltdown Drags was long.......2000 miles......but worth every mile! The Meltdown guys put on one hell of a show at the gorgeous Byron Dragways facility, the even provided perfect weather for us Californians :) . We made 3 runs on Saturday, the first time with the Body on and dare I mention a new NOS system which I was a little hesitant at first but after all the thought I put into the system I told my son "if it feels good do it". That is exactly what he did and the car loved it, the future holds a set of 3:70 gears to get the wheel speed up now that we have the power. Anyways here are some photos of the incredible time we had at the Meltdowns and again a huge THANK YOU to the entire Meltdown Crew!

  30. I wondered how you were making out. Glad to see you are still at it. Car is looking great. I will never forget when you first started with the two engines just sitting on the floor in the video. I also loved the time you tested it on the road in front of the cornfield. In the video you could hear one of your neighbours saying you were crazy. (took him a long time to figure that out I guess. ) Our Picton Airfield races have grown about as big as we need them to be as you told me they would. Often we run still the same weekends as Eagle even though we never plan it. All the best in all your future endeavours. I'd swap a fresh Picton Airfield T for a Eagle Field one if you want. Airfield racing is the real deal!
