Looking good! I can only imagine how much you want to see this beautiful project finished Tony. I know you will keep the pictures coming as the final build up progresses.

Love the blue. What colour will the top be?

Provided we find top material that looks like this:

If there is no suitable blue material, then:

I was thinking #2, but the dark blue would be good too. Its going to look great!

  11. Doesn't Mercedes have dark blue tops on some of its convertibles? The fabric should be readily available.

The late Ken Jones from Portland Oregon, he was a trimmer extra-extraordinaire, as they say,
His was a fiberglass from Wescott's, But Dee has passed also, Ken totally built
a 40 convert dark blue with a dark blue top Hartz cloth I think. Blue leather interior. Maybe Dale Matthews can tell you or find out where the material was located. Someone around Portland knows.

If you haven't found material, pursue that direction,
The License read LO-FAT and the car is still around.

IMO the white top would be more classically '50s in style, but this car isn't about being period perfect. I like them both a lot, but I think the blue is a bit more formal/sophisticated, and I don't think I'll tire of it as I might the white.
I have found a couple of dark blue top materials that may work, but I want to see them in person together with the painted car. I want to be sure that the top is significantly darker than the body, and that the two hues work well together. If none of the blue materials work well, the white will be a satisfactory fallback.

Thank you all very much. Your compliments are really good to hear.

Thanks for the offer, Fuzzy. I don't think it'll happen this year, but maybe next year.

  15. Tony..........absolutely outstanding !!!! your new ride will really be eye candy rolling down the road..........car looks classy with dark blue top, but white top gives it a sportier cleaner look with an added balance to the w/w's........totally agree with your wheel choice..........

I was hoping for "56 Chev color with the off white top. Sierra Gold with Adobe Beige top, But Blue with White Top will be great. Really like Ken Jones's talent but, But NEVER really like the blah car, It was really nice, but boring. IMO [IMG]

I found a tiny picture of Ken's car on the Wescott website. Too monochromatic for me. I want some contrast between the top and the body, and more again with the interior.

I absolutely agree, it was boring, hated the bumper, which he loved, standard painted headlite Rims, Overall, drab. Sorry Ken RIP. >>Dottie, his wife , just right.
It was (is ) a fantastically beautiful car. Just didn't snap MY carrot... So well done, no body even suspected FG
