I finished up the Scallops and striping on 'Sodapop' Dave's '54 Ford a couple of nights ago, and thought I'd share some pics.

I wanted to keep it simple because the car will probably get painted for real eventually, and I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I think Dave is too.

The color was taken from an old Dr. Pepper cooler that I have...and I got as close as I could with tinted primer. I added a little blue pearl as well when I was mixing the color.

    The Sodapop Special:

It's kind of hard to see the color on the outline stripes in the pics because for some reason the pics lost a lot of clarity and got a little blurry when I resized and uploaded them. Anyway, here's a close-up of the scallop over the headlight. The outline/accent color is a mixture of One-shot Emerald Green and Aqua. It's just enough to set the scallops off without overpowering them.

    I also striped the decklid...

I think it turned out pretty cool.

Thanks...here's another look at what it looked like when he brought it over. It's amazing what a difference a few of the right kind of changes can make.

Great job. I really like this car - All the mods, paint and striping bring out the best of the styling without overwhelming it. NICE!

Brian's right, I couldnt be happier with the way it's turned out.
Brian does amazing work, and at the risk of sounding gay... I love him.

I was thinking this should be in the Friday art post, but, (IMO) it desreves a post all its own...Thanks agian Brian

Less is more, definitely. I really think I'd rather have a '52-'54 Ford over a tri-five Chevy any day. A Pontiac might be a different story, but I digress...

    Nice work, man.

    Nice work, Bass!!

I'm a sucker for 52-54 Fords and Mercs myself, so I may be a LITTLE biased...

    ...but that car rocks!!

Nice Gretzky quote by the way.

  24. That car doesn't need a "real" paint job any more! It looks great just the way it is.

My first thought was that first pic was a kick ass pic. That is a poster! Or in a Mag or somthing. With the background and the dog. Looks cool as hell!

I have some Bass on my car and this guy kicks ass! Hell of a nice guy too!
